Knitting machine is a device used to create knitted fabrics in a semi or fully automated fashion.

A knitting machine with plastic plates may get jamming. The metal hook pieces slowly wore away the plastic as you used the machine, which eventually caused it to jam and become useless. You may need new plates, or a higher quality machine.

It may be dirty. As you knit, bits of yarn get into your machine and build up as lint. This can cause your machine to jam. Or it may also need to be lubricated.

If your machine is constantly jamming, best thing to do is to take it to a shop (you can find out where at your local yarn store) where they can professionally clean and lubricate it.

The first thing that came to mind that the yarn being used is beyond the ability of the machine to manage. Not every machine can handle a very heavy yarn on every needle. It might work if every other needle is used. Only might work that way but you can check the machine for lint build up and check the needles for any that are bent or broken. If the needles are bent, it might that they can't move forward and back and catch with the bed of the machine. It might even get caught up in the carriage, too.
